Take 1 was a mistake on my part. I had mic'd the crank before ordering bearings. Crank was standard. Ordered standard main and standard rod bearings. Had a shop clean the block and crank, and then they installed the crank for me. They turned the crank mains and rods 10 under. Didn't tell me. They switched out my standard main bearings with the correct 10 over main bearings. Didn't tell me. I installed the standard rod bearings previously purchased without double checking again. Motor didn't like it. Also had some other weird stuff going on that I still haven't figured out. Spark plugs 1,8,4,3 looked good and tan. Spark plugs 6,5,7,2 looked they they never fired. My guess was the the distributor shaft was bent and only hitting on 180 degrees and not the other 180 degrees. Changed distributors, no change. Then thought my re-built thermoquad had one of the primaries set right and the other wrong since it's a dual plane intake manifold. But the planes do not deliver separate air/fuel in the 1,8,4,3 and 6,5,7,2 ports. And that about covers it so far. Second time is a charm - let's hope.Missed take 1, what happened?
I would say that was very unprofessional move on their part. They should have documented it on the invoice at the least. They turned the crank mains and rods 10 under. Didn't tell me.
I was working with a carpenter at one time. I cut the 2x4 twice and it was still to short. He said measure twice cut once! Not measure once cut twice! OOOH!I installed the standard rod bearings previously purchased without double checking again.
Just a thought. Intake or cab gasket not sealed.Spark plugs 1,8,4,3 looked good and tan. Spark plugs 6,5,7,2 looked they they never fired.
As in construction. We do it twice and do it twice as nice.Second time is a charm - let's hope.
