Question about gas tank top pad
Original was made of an asbestos material; obviously no longer made
I bought a rubber version a few years back I was going to use.

detroitmuscletechnologies sells the rubber unit as well as a .070 thick felt paper unit similar to oem.
Concern; would the rubber mat hold water above the gas tank against the trunk floor? Better or worse then the HD rubber insulation unit that is now sold?
Anyone use either of these?

I have used the felt type pads but not the rubber ones.
I have seen condensation under rubber trunk mats so I am sure it would happen with a rubber gas tank pad too.

I've used roofing tar paper. The heavier weight of the two.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I ended up buying the felt paper pad from Detroit Muscle; closer to the original. Lee, good point about condensation even occurring inside the trunk.

Years ago before any "resto" parts were available, I used 1/8" Garlock or Durabla gasket material. Cut it to fit using what was left of the original as a pattern. been there nearly 40 years now with no issues.
