I posted this on FBBO and FABO with limited action.

Could the VIN stamp on this A833 be legitimate? It has obviously been ground and re-stamped.

The smaller stamp looks correct and it’s date code suggests it for the correct model year of 71.

Has anyone seen confirmed numbers matching A833 ground and re-stamped from the factory?

The smaller stamping does look right but I have to say I agree with the others - the VIN is probably wrong.
The factory workers probably didn't give a toss if they did stamp it wrong and they probably would not have had the time to do a correction.
