Mopar 727 small block transmission from 1987

Will a 1987 small block 727 fit up to a 1970 318 engine?

The bell housing will bolt up, it will most likely be a lock up convertor if it a car transmission. Is this 318 something special ?

Thanks moparleo, I'd like to put in a 727 trans instead of the 904. Would a 1987 727 work with a 1970 Challenger 318? Do earlier 727s not have a lock up converter?

Lockup started towards late 70's. I had a 79 Aspen, slant 6, with a lockup convertor. Chrysler had problem with them with the converter splines getting stripped off the convertor. Another change that was never fully tested before sticking it on cars. I got stuck with it as a result of that problem.
