Has anyone have any experience in installing a newer Challenger or Charger axle assembly in a E-Body? Seems like a tremendous amount of work but I have one already from my donor car.

Check the gear ratio. 2.4 gears don’t work with the older trans first gear ratios.

The 8 3/4 is just so good for most street cars. Why mess around?

That's a good point. I am installing the newer 392 and 8 speed auto also but if the factory rear is so good, why change it.

It can & has been done but you really need the floor pan from the donor car to graft into the older chassis to support the diff .

What is the gear ratio in the new axle? You need something close in the 8 3/4
