Even at 1/2 in. , I already tried Teflon tape but didn't like the way the tape squeezed out so not doing that , will blue loctite hold it if it's in loose .
What Cryco said. The pickup should touch or just about touch the bottom of the pan. I would call 440source and discuss your issue with them.
I just wasn't sure about the extra oil in a bigger pan if it could be higher off the bottom of the pan , I might just return it and just go with the 402 pan I have , im sure it's fine for weekend cruising.
Yes I agree , Im new to this mechanic engine stuff so Im learning alot from everyone here , I did have to cut out a hole in the wingage tray for the bend in the tube , mine is from Summit with the gasket attached to the tray and Im just going to use the 5qt ''402'' pan , the tube matches perfectly to that pan .
I'll tell 'ya what is so frustrating to me; we buy (expensive) parts and they don't fit without alteration. Seems the norm these days.

I tried my best but I started at the trans because I knew the k-menber holes would suck , my last hole I couldn't get the bolt in , I kept trying then heard a piece of metal drop in the pan , so I took it off and found the little metal ring broke off on the gasket , which is rubber with metal rings , so I just went with my 1st option and used a regular gasket , it's just for cruising anyways , very hard to do on your back in a garage but it is fun to do , now trying to get the center link back on and the idiot that put it on used miss matched nuts , not me , I keep telling people this car was put together in a junkyard , it looks killer though , just alot of time and money getting it together , oh well , Happy Mopar-n.Got around to fitting mine up yesterday. Windage tray took some cutting to make it work and the pickup tube took some bending but not much. I just threaded it in until it was bottomed out and was able to pull up and back on it to move it a tiny bit at a time. Checked fit with pan against the rails until it was lined up just right. Easy!
Windage tray I had to remove some metal from the middle and rear louver in the bottom as it was hitting the baffle in the 440 Source heavy duty pan. No big deal and easy enough to make work, but annoying that they say it'll fit right. Oh well, all better now.
This is just how hot rod building goes and it's worth it in the end!
