Special Order Tag

Can anyone tell me what the "SPECIAL ORDER" tag next to my fender tag is for? Just special ordered by the dealer?

I have seen a few special handling tags that had better attn to detail before delivery.
The Special order may have been for an executive as many car were ordered but I have not seen those tags on them

If I had to guess it means just that. The original purchaser went to a dealer and special ordered that car from the factory, to have or delete certain options. Instead of buying something of the lot

Yes, thats what that is, I had one of those tags on my car, when I order my rallye back in 71 and was delivered about amonth later in Oct.

That's what I assumed it was but someone asked me and I couldn't give a definite answer. Thanks for the replies.
