Stripes and Backout Hood Decals

I recently got my car back from the body shop having some minor work done and had the blackout decal placed on the hood. My side stripes are gloss black and the hood decal is satin/ matte.
I was told this is correct and that the satin/ matte finish is used on hoods due to eliminating glare. Is that correct?
