Hey folks,

For those that know me, I am doing a resto-mod on a 70 Baracuda, installing a 2017 5.7 Hemi and mated 8 speed AT. My question is does anyone have photos or diagrams on how much of the trans tunnel needs to be removed to fit? and does anyone make a trans mount for this mod? Any help is greatly appreciated

Brian

bumping to the top to see if anyone has a template of how much trans tunnel to cut to accommodate a 8 speed AT? Help is appreciated

Have you posted over at FABO? There are a lot of Hemi swap guys there and while not necessarily and E body, the amount that has to be cut out for the trans should be the same. Personally I would just start cutting; you should have an idea of where to start by looking at and measuring the trans and tunnel, then cut away slowly until you get where you need to be (need to test fit a number of times).

Couple of pictures of my trans tunnel on my 73 cuda incase you wanted some idea or reference points.

I have a 5.7 with the 545RFE going in my 73 Challenger. How much wider and taller does it need to be?

Not sure, but the 8hp-70 8 speed AT required cutting the passenger side out and teh firewall. I will get pictures soon for you as I will go to the paint shop this weekend
