Tried to raise my son right..

My oldest son (38) has never been a car nut, I tried. He recently got the bug and he recently got a Miata project. We have been going through it and he has learned a lot. He is not a Mopar guy, where did I go wrong?

PS- I am being mostly sarcastic on this one.

You were probably to easy on him. I had a car for my son to drive on his November birthday. What's the weather like here PA then! I put a set of mostly bald tires on the car and said go wreck it. When you do that you won't have a car and you'll have to fix it. I also showed him how to steer and brake out of slides. He thought that was fun.

I would start taking parts from it and start hiding them. Change firing order. I would start messing with him. When the drive train is out hang it on the wall! My question is who's garage is it in?

I just bought an other garage and my son's name is on it too. We have square up who gets what side. I cleaned up my side and he used it! I thought I was going to win the CUDA raffle. So I bought a garage!
Maybe show him how you really make donuts!

My dad, he’s a Ford guy through and through, always has driven Fords, has a ‘68 Mustang Fastback he restored years ago.
Says the same thing about me since I’m obviously Mopar. I’m 38 as well.

We all start somewhere. The first car I owned was a 36 Chevrolet Standard with inline 6. I worked on it and drove it. The next car I worked on was a 64 Biscayne. Then the next car I owned was a 66 Impala before I finally got my 71 Challenger. Then I owned a 72 Vega for the gas mileage. Then a Datsun 510 wagon before another Challenger. There's been other Chevys, Fords and Toyotas and Datsuns. I worked on each of them as I've owned them. You never know. He may get the Mopar fever one day. I know you really are glad that at least he has an interest in an old car.

‘68 Mustang Fastback

I have to confess I had a 68 302 Mustang sprint. By the way the stickers on the 1/4 window where there for a reason. Then a 67 Mustang 390 GT fastback.

Came from Philly to the hills and what do you get. Snow! Only one winter tire!
Just before paint.

I also had a 70 Torino 6 banger. With a myriad of problems. That cured me.

When my son was about five years old, I started taking him for rides in my 70 Challenger. He always loved the chirping tires and smell of gasoline. When the Transformers came out, he said, "Dad, your yellow Challenger is what Bumblebee should have been!" He owns a 2015 Challenger Scat Pack and now my 1996 Dodge Neon. And he's wanting to steal my 64 Imperial! So I did something right! Or maybe it was the gas fumes???

I think having him grab a wrench instead of hiring a person to do it means you did your job raising him well. I want to also have my son he's a young boy still but I want him to be able to figure out things without me. I just flew back on a flight and seen a boy that looks like his mom treats him like he answers with pronouns. point is, could be worse.
