ok--see that is a place for 2 per door--so where do they clip onto the panel itself

Here. Many doors only have one clip in center. Some people have two per panel. I've never seen 3. The yellow tape marks where others might go.

I tried to use all three when I replaced my panels with Metro re-pops. It's possible, but the juice isn't worth the squeeze. The center and rear clips keep everything firmly in place. The front clip is the one I skipped, just because it was very difficult to get the panel to comfortable sit as far down as it needed to on the door frame with all three on. two would seat and the third would pop up or out.
