have a good set of wheel caps. BUT on the end of the center cone there appears to be a "plug" . IMG_1908.jpg is there a replacement for that part?????

Yes, there is an aluminum disc that is stuck on with adhesive. That’s the adhesive residue left behind on your cap. Here’s a set on eBay, but they’re available from multiple vendors.

received new caps. was using acetone to clean off residue adhesive. one hub cleaned off bright and shiny. other hubs, acetone had no effect on removing adhesive....

You can try thinners and you also may need to use a plastic or wood scraper to help break it down.
Depends what glue was used - some are more permanent.

Heat gun can help soften some adhesives too.
