I might get a set of wheels/tires from a member on FBBO, but before I talk about getting them I want to see if anyone can verify whether they'll fit.

rears are 245 60 r 15,s wheels are 15x8

The front tires and rims will be dangerously overloaded. This size is for a VW Beetle sized car. The rear rims are a little narrow for a 245 sized tire. The rear wheel backspace needs to be 4 1/2 " . What brand/type of wheels are these ? Do you intend to drive on the streets and hi-way?

Thanks for the input Leo, They are Centerline Telstars...not sure of the backspacing, other than it came off of a b body. I plan to use the car on the streets to/from car shows etc...not too much highway action

Just remember that the majority of the vehicles weight is on the front axle and when braking, even more weight is transferred to the front . Because the front brakes have to do 80% of the braking, they are the ones that need the improved braking of the front disc setup. Your only connection to the road is the contact patch of the tires. This has the most difficult job of the entire car. Acceleration/traction is up to the rear tires contact with the pavement. Braking depends on the contact area/compound mostly of the front tires. Stand the tires up and take a piece of chalk and mark around the tire where it meets the ground. Move the tires and now look at how little area the tires have to do their job. Now this is just going in a straight line. Try to take a fast curve and the front tires will quickly lose traction and you will end up in a ditch. The big and little look is definitely the classic muscle look. But think about the safety of doing this. Drag racing is the only vehicle sport that uses this type of set-up and they have a straight, clean, smooth track with a long shutdown area to stop. Any other type of driving requires the widest tires that will fit all 4 corners to achieve maximum traction in the corners. Be safe. We need all the members we can get. Safety first always.
