Is there not a good way for new wiper blade to go into the side pin? I snap them into brand new wiper arms & they wish for a while but eventually they'll pop off. It seems like the side pin needs to be a few mm's longer.

they pop off? are the blades walking out the for end of the wiper arm? some images might help us see your issue.

I'm using a new wiper, from O'Reilly. Not an old one with blade insert. It slips off the pin after going for a while or going back to park. One of my old wiper arms that I replaced seems to have a side pin that's slightly longer & that didn't happen.

so you're not replacing the squeegee that slides into the silver-colored OEM frame? But you are replacing the whole frame that snaps onto the (right-angle) pin at the end of the arm?
If this is the case, there have been a number of varying diameters and styles of that "Anco-style" pivot pin over the years. I'm not surprised a current standard issue by an auto parts store chain does not fit this 50+ year old design.
You may need to shop around, and try to find the frame that is narrow enough to slip past the bulbous end of that pin and lock into place.

Probably. It seems to snap on but that end of the pin seems just short enough to allow it to pop off if there is slight pressure on the right direction (going to park position). I may have to buy replacement metal frames. Mine never had those since I owned it.

Let us know what you find. I have not seen the reproduction Anco frames sold by themselves. You can buy reproduction arms with, and without the frames. I need a complete set for my car. But I never drive in the rain, so I have put off buying a reproduction set hoping to find some used at a swap meet. I've been looking, on and off for over a decade.

One option for you, may be to buy the full set from classic industries (under $200) and then sell either the new arms or your prior arms to recover some costs.

I'll keep you posted. I did just buy replacement OEM wiper blades. I already got the arms new. I just naively figured with all the adapters I never use when I buy wipers for my regular cars buy never use, it would work on the old car.
It works just long enough to trick me into thinking it'll work.
