As I inventory my parts, it looks like I have a 3 speed wiper motor from a 1973. I also have the matching switch. I also have a 1970 rallye dash that I plan to put in the car, which has the variable speed switch. My understanding is that the 3 speed and variable speed are the same motor. Can I run the 1970 switch with the 1973 motor? Worse case scenario is put the 3 speed switch in the 1970 dash, but I kind of want the variable if possible.

Do the motors and the switches have the same wiring connectors, colored wires?

You could plug the 73 motor into the wiper harness, run some power to it, and see if it works.

Yes. You can use a 73 three speed type motor on a 70 or any of the model years. It will be a direct plug in on the firewall side. Physically, the black cap on the gear box cover is a give away that it is not the exact correct 077 wiper motor for 70 - 71.

Where you will run into a small issue is with the dash harness plugs. The 70 and 71 dash harnesses have two different connectors, one with four terminals and one with two terminals. The 72 - 74 dash harness use a single connector with six terminals. The 70 - 71 variable wiper switch is a larger diameter than the fixed three speed wiper switch for 72 - 74. Again yes, a fixed three speed 72 - 74 wiper switch can be used on a 70 - 71 with a swap of the connectors and visa versa from 70 - 71 to 72 - 74.
