1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, originally 383 4-speed, now 440 4-speed pistol grip shifter. Plum Crazy, white top, white interior with Rallye dash. New R/T bulge hood with hood pins. Rebuilt 440 with Comp Cams roller cam and roller rockers, Hooker headers and 3 chamber mufflers, chrome extensions. Manual steering and drum brakes. Rallye wheels and BF Goodrich radial 60's. Runs drives and stops.

Car is a great 10-footer with driver quality paint in some places, and better than driver quality in other places.

It's not a show car and it isn't perfect, it needs some work. But its a heck of a lot better than buying some rust bucket that doesn't run and probably never will.

He doesn't have a lot of time to talk with tire kickers and dreamers. Wants serious buyers with cash, no lowballers, no resellers. Near Wash DC in Northern VA.

In original color combo, I would say 30K. Looks like it needs hood hinges. Also the driver side door isn't closed all the way in the picture? Fender tag? Broadcast sheet?

The picture was before he replaced the hood hinges, when the engine was rebuilt. Yes the driver door was open in that picture ;)

Cmon, people want $10k for a nonrunning rusted hulk...

That's pretty much it in a nut shell. Those who drop or want 10k on a shell. A DREAM! With no fore thought of what it takes and what it is really worth when done. Then it gets passed on to the next dreamer at a loss or profit. It artificially inflates the market.
In this case more details might put a higher value on it. I think it might be a little higher but details would place the valve. A picture from 20" away doesn't pay any attention to detail. One detail to be considered is it a JS car.
Paint and body has been discussed here and is what I think astronomical. With some starting at 10k. 25k for paint the new norm.

COULD be quite a nice car! But we do not know from those few pics and details. As some have said on this thread, good up-close pics inclusive of the Fender Tag (AKA Body Plate) interior, trunk, and engine compartment would go a long way towards a higher price than 30K. Plus you have to remember it is a wrong engine car. Not just non-numbers matching, but the wrong engine. That hurts value.
But if the car is VERY nice in/out/under hood/trunk, original paint color scheme, then you will certainly get more than 30K for it!
But you have to remember, if it is a car in need of paint, as Challenger RTA pointed out the costs of a body and paint job these days are astronomical! Seem like every shop wants to build their financial retirement portfolio off of each job they do! (Gouging us, just like most other businesses in Biden's inflation sickened America these days)
