Please PM me with questions and interest, thank you.

I have a very presentable 1971 Dodge Challenger for sale. This car received a "refresh" in the 80's and has been stored inside - undriven - since 1997. The car has spent its entire life in California and Colorado; it's not perfectly desert-dry but it has an extremely solid body overall. I received it a few months ago; after addressing some issues it is now back on the road.

This is a JH23N 2-door hardtop, factory 383 4-bbl car, though it currently sports a 1972 440 engine. The dash VIN, cowl numbers and core support numbers all match, but without the 383 or a fender tag, this is not a numbers-matching affair. This one is perfect to drive, enjoy, and do what you want with without worrying about originality. A 727 automatic, console, power disk brakes, Power Bulge hood, dual exhaust valance, flip-top fuel cap, California emissions, and 14" Ralleye wheels round out the options.

The car starts immediately and runs well. It's got a little bit of lope at idle. Not a speed demon, but it does get up and go just fine, especially with the 3.91 gears. It will break the tires loose from a stop if you want it to. The transmission has some sort of shift kit in it and hits 2nd pretty hard, while 3rd comes in pretty late... it works. I haven't had it on the highway but it drives nice and straight around town.

The radiator is a brand-new aluminum deal made to look factory and fit correctly, and has a new correct-style shroud. New upper hose. Car runs cool.

New ignition switch and ignition key cylinder. New poly transmission mount. New rear wheel cylinders and shoes. New battery. New mini starter. Recent fuel pump, plugs, wires. New fuel filler tube and cap.

Brakes are fair; I think the power booster may need to be rebuilt. I bled all four corners with fresh fluid... they stop the car but the feel could be better.

Interior is pretty nice overall without any glaring issues. Nice seats, nice steering wheel. The dash pad is cracked of course but not as bad as most, and I do have a soft cover for it. The console has a few cracks. The door panels are decent but have speaker holes. Overall it is clean & comfortable, no weird smells, etc.

As stated, this is a Western car. The body is quite solid with very few rust issues. The cowl, floors, rockers, wheel houses, doors, roof, fenders, valances, and framerails are all original pieces and are solid. When it was "refreshed" in the 80's, patch panels were put in the rear quarters on both sides; this was decades before full quarters were available, but it's good work and done in metal, not bondo. The trunk floor was replaced in the 80's as well and is now starting to bubble; it's not rotten by any means but it's going to need attention if you need it to be perfect. On the driver's side where the quarter meets the rocker, there is a 3" square area where bubbling and rot have formed. And finally, there is one VERY small area on the passenger's inner fender. Other than these few areas, this is a very solid car.

Car is extremely straight at any angle. Paint is 35 years old but still shows and shines very well. At ten feet it is gorgeous. At five feet it still is very nice. At two feet you can see the few areas where it's starting to crack / peel. The grille in this car is very nice, most of the trim as well. Solid bumpers, good chrome.

Lights and signals work. Amp gauge, temp gauge work. Wipers work. Speedo runs fast but functions. Heater fan is not working, nor radio, nor fuel gauge. Door hinges are good, all windows go up and down as they should, door latches, etc.

This one still needs a little TLC but a lot of the small stuff has been handled. It runs quite well and will be a very fun, very good-looking car for someone to drive as-is, or to do what they want with.
