New member here. I thought I would make my first post some vintage pics that were taken when I worked at a wrecking in the early 80s

Pic 1 is a 71 cuda 383 4 speed drag car. Originally light blue painted orange.
The petty blue cuda behind it was 440 U code colum shift A/C originally in violet.
Pic 2 was a top banana,black side stripe 4speed console SE
It survived and was completely restored,only to be destroyed by fire in 2017.
The other R/T was a burnt orange 383 with white side stripes.
I believe it survived,but not sure where it went.
It has the original 440 from the red wrecked cuda in pic 3
The red cuda is 440 U code 4 speed. The wrecked body survived and I heard it was for sale recently on eBay.
66 satilite was Hemi 4 speed
White 70 cuda was colum 383 bench seat

Great pictures.
I miss the days when I could go to a wrecking yard in the late 70's early 80's and Mopars were there being stripped for parts; many would have been very fixable cars today!

This was a 50k mile wrecked 318 challenger that came in yard in 1978ish. The yard owner was able to buy NOS sheet metal then. Car was bent on firewall So it was turned into Drag car.
A 410 Dana rearend and 440 motor from a wrecked 69 GTX were installed. Ran 12.70s.

Blue 70 Challenger is an original Panther Pink TA
Orange 70 Challenger is a 1 owner 340 4 speed car (believe he still has it)
Lime green AAR was mine, paid $250 for it, sold it for $1200 when I went overseas
The picture of multiple cars is my yard in Fayetteville NC; 70 GTX 440 4spd, 73 Challenger and my AAR
Green 74 Challenger is the day after I bought it, traded a 74 Roadrunner in on it. 318 AT white interior, I redid it and painted it hemi orange and put in a 440, eventually a 4 speed.

Here are a few more, of the T/A, that was posted, earlier. That was my wife's car, for a while. It had the original hood and wheels on it, when we sold it. I sure would like to get it back, now.

Still haven't figured out why the 'garden-variety' aluminum slots were so popular in seventies and eighties.

Because they screamed "MUSCLE".. They were also popular on drag car because they were generally lighter than steel and were relatively cheap. This is why in the early 80's Centerline wheels became so popular, because racers used them.

Bought this Cuda in 1978, then the Checkmate in 1979. Had a blast with both. I sold the Checkmate in 84 but still have the Cuda today. Happy New Year !!

I totally agree! Deep dish aluminum slots were th S..t! Dont know why wheel companies dont make em anymore.
Some close but no Cigar...Keystones! Memories!

That Super Bee sure looks like a sleeper with the white walls and full wheel covers.

Yes, the Bee tore up a lot of unsuspecting Chevys and Fords. It was slightly faster than my Cuda, but got a lot more takers on the streets. Rod
