Hello All. Has anyone every rebuilt or know where to get parts to rebuild the heater control valve from a 1973 Barracuda? I know other years and body lines may have used this type. I took mine apart and the small round rubber seal broke in pieces because it had hardened. I see some NOS ones for sale but do you think the rubber seal inside would be hardened like mine or since they had never been used and had heat and cold cycles, that it would still be soft rubber? I just don't want to waste money.

Even though I have the hot/cold lever on cold, heat still is coming into the passenger compartment. I'm going to bypass it for now to see if the heat stops coming into the passenger compartment.
Should I be looking at anything else? All heat selections work and when I turn the heater control to off, I can hear the flaps moving and the fan also stops working like it should.

I would do a google search of that. Also look on FBBO, I saw somewhere that a guy rebuilt them. Or several places did.

I have a couple of these so I'm following along, and wondering what it looks like apart. Is it just a matter of a new seal or is there more to it than that? Maybe a new seal could be made?

if its NOS and its been in a box and not in some old guys garage in 120 degree heat it should be fine. rubber is fairly resilient when protected from sunlight and extreme heat and cold.
