Curious as to the difference in the standard 1970 340 engine harness and the one for the 6-bbl (AAR) version.

I'm guessing it's just the idle speed solenoid. that's the only difference I can see in the wiring diagram in the factory service manuals we can all download for free from mymopar and e-bodies.org.

Coil power wire? I know on a big block, the wiring is different because of the coil placement.

a 6-barrel setup was available on both the 440 and the 340 (AAR) so the OP is asking the difference between the 340-4 and the 340-6 (AAR) wiring harness. Implying both as small block.
I know, I have a big block six pack. My six pack wiring harness has a longer coil power wire since the coil is mounted in the back on the side. Not upfront like the standard coil four barrel or two barrel coil.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to get my list together of all the specialty pieces I need to put this AAR back together. I basically have a painted shell and some other parts, but the majority of items are gone. Going to be EXPENSIVE!!!

@B5blueGC - What all do you need that’s AAR/TA specific?

No engine/trans, exhaust, dash, steering column, etc. I do have the T/A steering box, brake system, rallye dash gauges, some interior parts. No wiring harnesses for anything. Still putting finishing touches on my Gran Coupe so funds are somewhat limited for this one.

Rally tack gauge will need the gray tach wire. That's in the engine harness or add it. Manual green wire from clurh swith to starter realy. or Automatic trans wiring neutral safety switch package specific.

For a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A with a 340 engine, the ignition coil is mounted to the throttle bracket, which is bolted to the intake manifold on the driver's side, behind the air cleaner.

Unlike later models (such as the 1972), the 1970 T/A coil does not mount to the rearmost holes in the driver's side cylinder head. If using an aftermarket coil like an MSD Blaster 2, ensure it is mounted vertically; a standard oil-filled coil may fail if mounted horizontally, whereas a resin-filled coil is required for horizontal mounting positions.
