hear is my 2cent's worth! bellhouseing and flywheel are different, mounting location of the transmission would be the same. i under stand the transmissions are different, that dose not mean it wont work. torsion bars must be changed, and it will make the car front heavy. maybe you should consider a 360 or something on that line it would be less problems for you

There are a lot of 440 cars out there but not many 340 6 pack T/A's. With that in mind, and to make things easier, use another 340, or a balanced 360, or better yet a 360 stroker motor. Then you can use your 6 pack and the parts in the car will bolt up. The car has it's T/A image intact, and your original motor is in safe keeping.

+1. To install a big block correctly you are looking at different exhaust, radiator, posibly k-member, radiator hoses and a host of other stuff. Build another 340 and use all of your stock accessories. When/if you decide to put the original engine back in its an easy swap. Of course....unless you plan to beat on it just do a good rebuild on the original engine and enjoy it!!!

Hey everyone!! Been awhile, Ive done a bit of work on the car, but had some other stuff come up. I'm back in action now! I'll post some pics soon, but currently I got my 6 pack carbs back frome Eric at Vintage Muscle Car Parts in Ohio.WOW is all I can say, turned out perfect! Second, took the hood and spoiler to body shop, should get those back in the future... Timeline unknown. I'm done with the transmission, I'll post pics of it tommarow, and now im working on the rear suspension, wheels, brakes, ect. Also ordering up the parts for a 408 stroker motor build, and going to slide the original engine under the bench. Hoping to be in the neighborhood of 475-500 hp. Lots of progress, and more to come!
