i have two luggage racks a local guy wants to buy from me. Theyre solid not rusted but would need to be cleaned up and made shine again. One has all the legs and the other is the luggage rack without the legs. E body luggage racks. Anyone know what these are truly worth?

Whatever someones willing to pay. Don't think they repro these? I threw one away in the late '80s when I parted out a Challenger vert.

They were offered by Year One, don't know if they still are. I've had a couple of these 6 or 7 years ago that were in so so shape and I think I got 2 or 300 bucks for them. If they need new chrome to go on a restored car having that done will likely cost more than buying a repop.

Only repops I can find are stainless...the originals are chrome.

Was that each or for the 6 you had?

I carried one from show to show for a few years and finally took $150 for it. It was decent and had all the parts, but needed a re-chrome. All I heard was "I can buy a new one, blah, blah, blah..."

The cost to get an old one re-chromed can be quite high. So it makes it hard to justify paying a lot for one unless it's in perfect shape.

Stainless racks are listed in my Year One catalog for $579.99. Catalog is about two years old.

Sold a NOS one last year. 3-4 times as much as a repop. Plating is very expensive. I'd probably buy a stainless one, and have it professionally polished.

I'll probably clean off the dirt and polish it out myself. It still shines a bit in spots but is dirty looks like it's still shine if I just give it a nice clean.

Post some pictures and prices. Someone will pick them up!

If you are truly restoring the car only original will do. I do not know what it is worth but if your buyer does not want a repro you can get a better price.
There will only be a limited number of original pieces for sale.
