Does anyone have any experience with a Hurst Vertigate shifter I just bought one off of Facebook and when I mount it to try it go through the gears it doesnt do anything like its frozen I did spray it a bit and the 3rd 4th lever moves fine I can get the rings to pull up little bit but nothing as far as putting it in gear. Any ideas or did I get stiffed

You might want to contact Brewer Performance. It may need rebuilt. Those shifters get the crap beat out of them and don't work smoothly forever.

Can you post some details of what you have, maybe a picture? The rings should pull fairly easily once the shifter is aligned in the correct location, to allow shifting into the lower gears. Verify your rod adjustments also, I’ve encountered similar issues due to this. Good luck and post what you discover.

This was a long time ago. A buddy of mine Had one in a Yenko Nova. When you shift you have to basically yank it to second or it could drop into fourth.He said to be a bit quicker on the shift. Second to third is a shove it forward. You cannot miss it or going into fourth either.
I remember you have to lift the lock out to go to first and to come out of forth.
For reverse, you have to put the shifter into neutral and then move the reverse lever.
Set up was fairly easy. You attach the levers to the tranny. You put the pin into the shifter. You use the screw adjustment to get the pin to fit exactly into the shifter slot. Lots of WD-40 helped. They were a tight fit but when you pulled the pin, there was absolutely NO SLOP in the linkage.
The shifter rod bushings might have play in them this was what will allow it to lock up.
I think the instructions said to use blue locktite on the bolts

I have a Mr. Gasket in my '69. Basically, the same system.
Lubricate the gate system. Over time they may dry up. Left to sit, they can rust and hangup.
Make sure the trans and shifter are in neutral when you tighten the lever nuts. Keep all levers from turning on you with an adjustable wrench.
On the 1-2 shift, it takes a bit of time for the gate to drop so it should not have to be yanked like you're at the track.
Of course, when all else fails???

Great news! So I used an LED bulb, the hole is grounded like y’all said and ran wire under carpet to accessory fuse. It’s blinding bright lol. Thanks all.
