LA Block Distributor Shaft Tooth Mismatch

Thanks All! It will definitely be going back to Mancini. I appreciate you all taking the time to review this - I half expected there to be some ancient Mopar secret that would have let me use it (and saved me a week of shipping). I'll update this with the solution for future reference.

LA Block Distributor Shaft Tooth Mismatch

Thanks for measuring those out! These are actually the same length from the hole where you pin the collar to the base of the tooth that meets the gear. It is admittedly kind of hard to tell from the pic but I did take a mic to them both. I'm thinking it was just misboxed and am going to check...

LA Block Distributor Shaft Tooth Mismatch

Will do, I'll measure the height out next time I'm in the garage. I was able to seat the old one just fine and the gear is still meshed correctly with the cam.

LA Block Distributor Shaft Tooth Mismatch

Thanks Steve just making sure I'm not crazy. It doesn't seat. And yes, Mancini says they'll sort it out for me on Monday. Just wanted to see if this rang any bells for folks who might have a way I can use it (to save me another week of shipping time). For about $130 shipped I'd like it to fit...

LA Block Distributor Shaft Tooth Mismatch

Hi All, The new Mopar aftermarket distributor I ordered in from Mancini won't seat into the bushing/gear... The old one (also Mopar aftermarket, just about 12 years old) was tapered. I called them up and confirmed I ordered the one for an LA block. The shafts are the same lengths and the...

    440 to 505 Build

Thanks for posting this in this level of detail. I'm deciding on a parts list and a displacement for a 440 stroker right now. I have to get the block torn down and in to the machine shop to determine my starting point for a kit. I really appreciate reading through this to get a sense of what to...

    Scott's Rusting Pile of Mopars

I've picked up a few cars to park next to the Challenger in the last few years. Figured I'd get them online since I've just been stalking the forum without contributing for a while! 1972 Challenger Rallye (now a 360) 1968 Coronet (440 stroker build in progress) 1971 Plymouth Scamp (318 2Brl -...

72 Challenger Disc Brake Conversion Walk Through

WOW Amazing write up!! THANK YOU OP for including the PART NUMBER OF THE MASTER CYLINDER! That's definitely not SOMETHING YOU WOULD REMEMBER YEARS LATER WHEN YOU NEEDED IT! I love this forum!! Suck it, Facebook Groups! PS. Apparently the life expectancy on one of those bad-boys (Raymold...

72 Challenger Disc Brake Conversion Walk Through

I am. I haven't put a ton of miles on the car since the swap, I had a career change and an out of state relocation and life happen right as I was finishing it up. I haven't had it aligned so I can't vouch for that one, but everything else seems to be in order. It seems to track about as straight...

72 Challenger Disc Brake Conversion Walk Through

Oh man... Wait until you see my lines. I went Stainless and I'll never do it again. I'll have pics up next week with more confessions of my sins. I might never pop the hood again... No air in them though after the first bleed, thankfully.

72 Challenger Disc Brake Conversion Walk Through

Much obliged... I will probably make it a point to replace them both either way based on that!

    disc brake prop valve question

Word. I'm never doing that again. I haven't sworn and thrown tools in quite a while! P.S. Inline Tube actually freakin' made my lines PRE-FLARED with the 3/8-24 fittings on the distribution block side that you need to mount a Willwood proportioning valve. Call them if you're attempting a swap...

    disc brake prop valve question

I say give the OEM piece a shot, I just finished the same swap on my 72 YESTERDAY (FINALLY!) and I hate the Willwood. The aluminum is so light it may as well be made out of butter & I'm having sealing issues. Part of that is because I went stainless on the lines and they're so rigid they're...

Ok, A)SOLVED! - Thank you! B)Solved for $4? Awesome. C)$10 shipping minimum means I had to order more oldschool garage art... Twist my arm? :wav:

    Master Cylinder Pedal Rod Bushing?

Hi! I'm back on my disc brake swap after a loooong hiatus. Does anyone have a source for the little bushing inside the piston of the master cylinder? That's the one that accepts and centers the pedal rod coming through the firewall. I don't see them in rebuild kits, YearOne doesn't seem to offer...

    Fun with thermal imaging

Something random and kind of fun: Friend of mine came by with a FLIR thermal imaging HVAC tool and I thought I would share pics of my 72 Challenger. :color::color:

    Disc Brake Clips

Spindles came from a 73 Satellite. You are VERY right: rotor/hubs are around $50 out the door. FYI - you CAN in fact get poorly machined (offshore - should have known better) hubs. I picked up a new one after the first one was bottoming out and still had play when I tightened it up. The...

    14 Awesome Years

Thanks guys. I will definitely post picks of the project when I'm done. And for the record, a 3 year old using a 3/8 ratchet for its intended purpose is something to behold!
