    71 RT Restoration

Thanks Nigel! Another member helped me with suggestions to get the door windows installed - and I was very happy to be done with that part! Now working on the carpets - I bought Legendary set and while they are similar to originals, the weight of the carpet is not as good as the originals -...

    Door Jamb Sticker

Mine was removed by the body shop and I am looking for other pics of installation location and orientation. I had a pic of mine before removal but lost in computer crash. Also - what kind of glue would be best to reapply mine? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

    71 RT Restoration

It has been a long time since I last updated - lots of things going on that have taken my time away from the project. But as of today, I have the dashboard complete and installed, most of the wiring harness installed, and now working on the side windows. This is a great thread that is referred...

    70 Challenger rear bumper "filler."

I have a 71 RT that had original paint - attached photo shows the tail panel. The trim above was also painted black on the lower half (below the crease line)

Want to Upgrade Factory AC but Keep Stock Appearance

The airbox was simple to rebuild with the seal kits they have available. Not sure how hard it is to get that airbox out when the dash is installed though!

Want to Upgrade Factory AC but Keep Stock Appearance

Will look into that! And no judgment from me - I have lusted after the '69 Mach 1's since I was 12 years old, hope to own one someday!

Want to Upgrade Factory AC but Keep Stock Appearance

Original Air also makes an upgrade kit that is reasonably priced, has the combination hard and rubber refrigerant lines (although I have not confirmed they would look similar to originals when installed) and you can also get the Sanden compressor painted black for an upcharge. 71 Charger/70-71...

Want to Upgrade Factory AC but Keep Stock Appearance

Original Air will rebuild your compressor and use R134 compatible seals and gaskets, but you have to get on a wait list because they are backed up with orders. Plus you are going to have to pay to mail that heavy compressor back and forth. My guess is that a local auto AC shop could do that...

Want to Upgrade Factory AC but Keep Stock Appearance

Never thought of that possibility - would be a good idea but I am keeping the mechanical fuel pump

Want to Upgrade Factory AC but Keep Stock Appearance

Great info - the Sanden compressor would work better (and more efficiently, no doubt) but to me when you open the hood and see it sitting right there on top of the engine it screams "resto-mod" and I really wanted to keep the stock appearance even if the compressor will be lumpy/noisy and not as...

Want to Upgrade Factory AC but Keep Stock Appearance

Hello everyone - I would love to pick your brains for the excellent advice on how to proceed with my Factory AC (71 RT with 383 and Rallye gauges). As I have mentioned this car was bone stock, highly optioned and I would like to leave it that way as much as possible. I live on the CA coast and...

    1970 Challenger console automatic shifter

As I recall the tape I removed was paper backed - like masking tape. But masking tape would have medium duty adhesive. The Gaffers tape would probably be stronger and it will be hidden in most locations.

    1970 Challenger console automatic shifter

Great idea - I can see where that would work! Thanks!

    1970 Challenger console automatic shifter

Does anyone know a source for the tape used by the factory to tape wiring to the body - as shown in the picture above? It has some sort of paper backing - have seen it called electrical tape but it’s not the same as the vinyl electrical tape I know. Want to make sure I use the correct tape on...

    71 RT Restoration

Next up - need to clean and repair the window regulators (including electric motors) and install them in the doors. I am finding out that the many pics I took of how those came apart may not be adequate to show how to easily reinstall them. If anyone knows of a good thread somewhere that steps...
