18" Ridler Wheels Question?

Hello,
I'm considering installing new 18" Ridler wheels on my 1970 Challenger. The car has the original stock suspension. Has anyone used this brand before? I'd like to know what back spacing is required as well as other key ordering information. Post some pictures if you have these.

It's better to use the offset spec than the rear space spec, since the offset doesn't change with different widths and the rear space does. The offset just tells you how far inboard or outboard the center of the tire or tire mounting area is relative to the mounting face. Factory 14" Rally wheels are offset .50 inches (+12.7 mm) inboard, and 15" Rally wheels are .25 inches (+6.35 mm) inboard. In the thumbnail picture of my car it has 16 x 8, +15 mm offset wheels, but I now have 17 x 9, +10 mm wheels, with 255-40 tires all the way around. Everything clears, front and back, lock to lock, weight on wheels and weight off wheels. The corner of the front tire clears the front of the fender opening on turns with my 17 inch setup, but it might interfere with 18 inchers and 255's up front. Also, it's good to do a fit check with the bare wheel, before you mount tires. See picture. I found that I needed to chamfer the mounting holes with a 90 degree countersink bit on a drill motor, because the wheel I chose had smaller than usual mounting holes and they were hitting the shoulder on the studs and not seating completely.

Hi DaveBob, Thank you for the reply. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Have to admit that I'm green is this area. I know what manufacture and style rim I want to use. I also want to have a large enough rim but also allowing for tire sidewall. I'm not a fan of the "rubber band" style tire/rim combo. As you are aware, it's an expensive decision that needs to be right the first time around. Thanks for explaining what tire/rim size you are using. I may have to reconsider and use 17 rims so I won't have contact issues.

My rims are similar to Ridlers, they are Vision 142's 18x8.5 with 20mm offset. I wrapped them with 245-45-18's front and 275-40-18 rear. I have tons of clearance, could easily fit a 295 or 305 in the back but they would probably be too wide for an 8.5 inch rim.

My car has 18 x 10 riddlers on the back and 17 x 8 in the front.

Ok..so I checked and my wheels and tires are as follows.
Rears are 18 x 9.5 with +6mm offset with 285-40-18 Nitto NT555 Tires.

Fronts are 17 x 8 with a 0mm offset and 245- 45-17 Nitto NT555 tires also.

Thank you for the replies sharing your knowledge. There's a lot to consider and need to do my homework! I'm rather green on this subject and don't want to purchase the wrong size rims making a costly mistake. I am keeping the original factory suspension. I really like the look of the Riddler rims and want as much knowledge as possible before purchasing. Is it possible to have 18" rims on the front without issues? Thank you and Happy New Year!

I have 18” all the way around with a 255 up front and it’s probably a to little low for the size but i doubt you will go as low as my car so it should work for you without any issues .. Backspace is the key to fit anything under any car 🙌🏼

While I am not a fan of larger dia wheels on older cars but all of your cars look good with these wheels on them.

Rears are 18x9.5 with 5.5" backspacing and 295/45/18 Nitto's. Leaf springs are in stock location.

I'm considering switching to 15" wheels and tires since I haven't done any autocross events and the roads here in Ohio aren't the greatest.
