Hey

I finally got it all together

Got no spark
all new wiring harnesses from bill evans. seems like it got it all correct
new petronic ignition

when key is in the on position but not cranking there is no power at either side of coil but there is power at both sides of ballast resistor with key in on position

when you crank the car there is power at both side of coil and no power at the ballast resistor on either side

must be missing something

I did also use a little dielectric grease on spark plugs and at distributor. Dont know if that would do anything

attached are some pics of the electrical components

Thanks

There is dielectric grease that is non conductive. Don't know if that is the problem. check bulkhead connectors and under steering column plug.

When the ign sw is in the start position there is full voltage of the battery to the coil. In the run position the voltage goes through the ballast resistor at a reduced voltage to the coil.
If the ballast resistor was bad, it would start in the start position and when let off the key it would stop running. Key. In run position there should be power at the ballast resistor.

Disconnect the power wire to the coil & check voltage there , 13+ v cranking & 7V run through the ballast .
Tach wire could be grounding the coil out so disconnect that as well .

All very excellent advice, Paul. Keep us posted. It's going to be a great correctly restored Charger!
