1969 front suspension

I installed my torsion bars
I installed new adjustable new torsion bar adjuster blocks and screws

Before i adjusted the height, the front of the car was low
I lifted the car to take pressure off the front end
I adjusted the torsion bar screws in lower control arms and car started to raise as its is supposed to

then it would go anymore. Wound up breaking the screw believe it or not

So something is off

Anyone can tell me the proper procedure so I can do it again

That's a pretty long breaker bar laying on the alignment rack. I could easily break a torsion bar adjusting bolt with that beast! There's only so much adjustment with the torsion bars. Once the screw gets tight, cranking on it isn't going to do anything but snap it. What does the markings on the head of the screw look like?

They were aftermarket screws

I will clean up my originals and try them. maybe they are not good quality

The new screws might have been dead soft. Yes, the originals if in decent shape are the way to go. Check the slip nut in the arms and make sure those threads look OK.

I have encountered this a few times. Brut force is not always the answer, it might work from time to time now your at this broken point. Heat the nut with a propane or acetylene gas torch not cherry red. Allow it to heat soak and try it again. Heat again and try right away.
