This is a legitimate 383 4 spd Gran Coupe. A lot of people debate the exhaust tips and the hood with the engine, but it’s all legitimate. After all, it is a Gran Coupe. It’s a Burnt Orange car, with Burnt Orange interior, and a white vinyl top. This car hits home, it’s from Northern Auto (Chrysler) in Hancock, MI, about thirty minutes from my grandparents’ place. Very cool car, one of my favorites in the show.

Beautiful car! I dig that flat hood.

We have nothing to debate as we do not have a fender tag readout.

I can claim anything was on my car without the fender tag or build sheet.

That car should have come with a flat hood.
The tips can't be debated if they are on the fender tag.

However I am unfamiliar with that actual tip set up. Love to hear some more info on that.

The build sheet would shed some more light on the subject.

Otherwise, that is just an awesome example of that color! FK5

I wonder why the grill has no red bars. I thought all gran coupe's came with those.

@Mopaholic426 Does this look close?

I see in picture of the engine that the fender tag is present, I wonder if someone got a close up of the tag?

The "red bars" are used only on 'cuda models, and M46 optioned cars. Gran Coupe grilles have the plastic chromed rectangular inserts identical to those on AAR cars.
The tips and mufflers at the back of this car have been added, original ones would not show the way these do, and they only come as turn-downs, NEVER through the rear valence, which is a 'cuda thing only.

It’s been somewhat monkeyed with. Some or maybe all of the A/C is missing, there would always be a hose obscuring the fender tag, it is not there. The rectangular grille inserts are gone as well. Dash has been changed out, evident by the Barracuda script nameplate sitting on top of the dash pad, rather than recessed into it.
Gran Coupe Barracuda’s were the only Barracuda’s that you could get a burnt orange interior in, not available in any other models.

Why do we think this is an A/C car? Nothing A/C showing on this car. No underhood parts and no dash vents.

What fender tag? Where is the picture of it?
Do you mean this imaginary spoof tag?

No one contributing to this thread said that it was or wasn't the tag for the car. I'm assuming it is. If it isn't someone should indicate as much.

OK, noted. One thing that is interesting is the 26" radiator. It must be a max cooling radiator because of the rear end gear ratio. THAT is rare!

The Cuda Hunter draft of a possible fender tag should not have the H51 for A/C since this is definitely a non-A/C car. The dash is a correct repro for 1970 BH, BP, and BS models without A/C. The emblem is somewhat recessed and could be a little more recessed but that is the nature of repro dashes sometimes. Overall the car looks great. The turned down exhaust tips need to be corrected. They should not be that noticeable. We need to see the broadcast sheet and fender tag for this unique car to analyze what is original and what has been changed.

70 4715,
Can you clarify what you mean by "Gran Coupe Barracuda’s were the only Barracuda’s that you could get a burnt orange interior in, not available in any other models."?
Are you saying K4 - Burnt Orange interior was only available in a Gran Coupe Barracuda (BP) and not in a Barracuda (BH) or a Cuda (BS)?

Yes, it is an interior colour ONLY for a Gran Coupe in 1970. I’ll find some info. and get you a picture.

Also, the exhaust for B - Hamtramck assembled Gran Coupe (BP) would be single exhaust with turn down for an L-engine 383-2V and dual exhaust (N41) for an N-engine 383-4V with turn downs.
Those mufflers and turn downs need to be tucked up into the heat shields under the trunk floor for the correct look.

I have attached some 383 Gran Coupe fender tags to show the single and N41 - Dual Exhaust with no Bright Exhaust Tips (N42). Same setup as a California N95 car.
