1970 Dodge Challenger Restoration [[TONS OF PICTURES]]

Hey guys,

Got outta high school, just really started working and I was continuing my search for a Challenger when I checked forebodiesonly.com. I saw a post by superstockmopar. Instantly I messaged him and 30 minutes later got a call. About 30 minutes from that the paypal deposit was in and sent. That weekend I went to go get the car, rained like all heck the whole way there!!! Took a turn down this gravel road, dirt flying everywhere, I saw the sun sitting on the side of a barn at the end of the road...

1970 Challenger, Originally a 318/904, Nothing special. Cracked windshield, interior looking like someone died in it, rust everywhere, wheels about ready to fall off, but it was all mine!!

He was gonna part it out, I just couldn't let that happen!

So originally I decided I was just gonna do what I did when I painted my Coronet... Keep the K-Member and all that on... Decided this would definitely be worth building a rotisserie over, and thats exactly what I did. More pictures to come!!!

I suppose so... Just if I could afford it, way too expensive... Are you gonna media blast outta your garage or have someone else to do it? Outta curiousity, how much does it cost to have the chassis blasted? If ya don't mind me askin'

I pay to have it done and have a guy that I take all my stuff to. I had my `68 Road Runner stripped apart not quite as far as you do and it was on a body dolly that I made up. He charged me about a thousand to do the whole car including fenders, doors, dash, Engine k member, but not hood or trunk lid. Now is the perfect time for you to do it as it looks like you have stripped all of the rusty metal off. If it was just the chassis being blasted for now my guy would probably do it for around $700. I had already replaced alot of what you see in these pics, including the rear clip and the A-pillar and cowl assembly before getting it blasted. One thing I could never do is pay to media blast a bunch of rusty metal you're just going to replace anyway. Ahhh, the things we do for love.

You're average every day person sees a project like this and thinks it's just a rusty car.

We as car guys see a project like this and think of all the potential.

i blast for the hod rod shop,, a FULL car, is about 1200-1500,, just the body, no roof, about 500-700, just depends on if your removed all the floors, or what gets blasted, and if its rolling or on a rack. ,, $100-125 / hour, :toothy2s its NOT a fun job!!

And Matt got a good price for that especially factoring in the Doors and Fenders. With me, I go over the Fenders first by hand, removing as much of the 'gunk' as possible before blasting -- makes the blasting go so much faster, etc.
