1971 cuda rear valence

Hey guys, so i ran into a little problem setting up the rear quarter panels to weld in. The quarter panel gits nice everywhere except the gap at the rear valence. Can someone give me the measurements for the rear valence on a 1971 cuda. I've looked else where and so far I found people saying its supposed to be around 65inches. I know the guy I bought the car off of butchered alot if it which requires me to change alot of sheet metal, so im just wondering if he did the same to this rear valence. Thanks

ideally, you could bolt the lower valence in place, prior to committing the quarter panel placement with welds.

I have it placed and it lines up perfectly everywhere except there. Its really far off. So im just trying to figure out if the AMD quarter panel is a bad batch or if they butchered the valence just like they did the rest of the car.

So the gap is at the bottom where the quarter panel meets the rear valence

thank you, those pictures clarify where the issue is.

the rear lower valance panel itself, is a key point of reference, presuming it is unaltered (example, narrowed by 4 inches) and you are correct, they should line up and bolt together. a careful inspection of the lower valance should show if it's been altered. I believe it was stamped from a sheet of metal. so the edges and bends are easy to follow and inspect for altercation.

I just measured the distance across, at the bottom-most edge of the quarter panels where they meet the lower valance panel. this is along the seam where the quarter panel and valance panel meet. Across the forward (narrower) edge of the lower valance, and it measures 51-inches across. This is the narrowest point where these panels intersect.

i did not pull a measurement of the upper part of the lower valance panel. but the 51-inches may be enough to show you if the lower valance was narrowed, or of correct dimensions. if it's correct, the the quarter panels must be tweaked to tighten things up.
