My bodyman called and asked for some input on why the trunk on my 1973 Cuda was not able to lie flat on both bumpers. The right side is about 2 inches high while the left lays flat on the bumper. He’s installing the body parts before paint and ran into this problem, so we started adjusting the torsion bar. We adjusted it to its lowest resistance setting and it still holds the right side of the trunk 1 inch too high while the left side rests on the bumper.
The 73’s have a single torsion bar which could be a factor but I haven’t read anything about that anywhere. The square bushing riding on the hinge is good and the hinge pivot points are not wallowed out. The trunk lid is new/square. We’re baffled. Any thoughts?
