Hello, I’m nearing the end of my project and need some expertise. I have a 1970 340 in my 1973 dodge challenger. The 727 automatic transmission that I received with the car had already been overhauled and rebuilt. I installed it, just assumed it was roughly the same year. I started to look at the linkage and noticed that it has no mounting holes for the gearshift torque shaft bracket. I ran the ID number 4058395 and found it’s from a
Dodge Tr 82-83 8-318 & 8-360 A727
DI50 D250 & D350 4X2 Long Extension. My question, will this work with my vehicle and how do I connect the floor shifter?

Are you saying your transmission is missing the bolt flange on the driver-side of the bellhousing, right on the starter motor hump?

He's probably talking about the double holes under the tailshaft housing where the vertical bracket bolts on for the console shifter. Trucks did not have that. He can get a different tailshaft housing from another 727 to fix that.

Yes! That’s exactly what I’m talking about. Ok, so a correct tail shaft housing which has those two holes and then I’m good to go.

Truck transmissions do not have the cast-in mounting tabs/holes for a floor shifter. A 727 transmission from a passenger car with the cast-in mounting tabs/holes can be substituted to allow use of a floor shifter like that shown in post #4 or in the following image:

This is mine, looks like a lock up.

The pictured transmission is not a lock-up transmission. The A727 Torqueflite with non-lockup converter input shaft has 24 splines. The 1978-1990 A727 Torqueflite with lockup converter input shaft has 23 splines plus a smooth machined area without splines at the nose of the shaft.

The following image shows a comparison of input shafts:
