I am replacing the oil pump in my 73 cuda 340 and i bought a mopar performance pump which states increases volume by 25%. I bought a new strainer and felpro gaskets to complete the installation.

Someone told me not to use the high volume oil pump with a stock pan that it needed the high capacity oil pan to work right due to starvation with the stock pan.

Its a show car and I do not want the extra deep pan - should i put in a stock pump or use the high volume ?

Any advise would be helpful

Thanks Ralph

Didnt think much about it, went for the high volume since most put them in thinking it buys some better protection over stock

thanks much Ralph

The HV pump is not good with a stock pan , on a long pull you can empty the pan & take out the brgs , so either drive it carefully , no long high rpm runs , or put the stock pump back in .
