This is an 8 3/4 3.23 Sure-Grip rear end from a Big Block 400 1974 Dodge Charger SE. Has a 489 case with 10' drums. I believe this will also work on 1970-1974 E-Body cars, Cuda & Challenger. I always hear B-Body or E-Body. You can view in action on YouTube. . Asking $1200, I prefer local pick up. If you want it shipped you will need to arrange your own shipping. I will deliver to your shipper close to me for additional fee of $50. Item is located in Spring TX, 77389.

I will be first as everyone will want to say that Only GM cars have " Posi " rear ends. Mopar is normally known as "Sure-Grip ".
Here are the specs on the housing widths, drum to drum widths, spring perch widths.
Your rear assembly has nothing dimension wise in common with E-body.

Can be adapted with a torch and special offset rims though...

While 74 was the last year for an 8 3/4 rear in a big block B, it's definitely not the right rear end for an ebody.
Spring pads are 47.3, and 61plus wide.
E is 46" wide and 60.5 wide.
Plus 73-4 B have iso mount rear spring pads.

Exactly my point. My post has the links for all dimensions.
This part looks to have been sealed for a long time from looking at the corrosion.
What does the actual Sure-grip look like, condition wise.
You are asking a lot of money so I think it would be good to know what the differential condition is.
You can't tell by turn a drum by hand.
Thank you.

Sorry Leo. I read your post and didn't even see the link.
Which means 1/2 of all readers probably skipped it.
My main point was getting the fact that it's not E out there.
Plus cone sure grip, or non sure grip with wear. Clutch pack rule.
I sold a clean housing and axles, brakes for $400 and felt damn lucky.

According to " Chryco Psycho", B-body axle vs E-body?
65-70 B body diff is narrower than the E body , ,the 71-72 diff is wider than the E body.
I was able to get a 8 3/4 sure grip I was told it was from 70 Road Runner, I switched out the 3rd member with my 8 3/4 open rear I got from a 74 Chall parts car, which replace my original 7 1/4 rear, (6 cyl 70 Chall vert). I found the Challenger rear was wider than the Road runners.

What's up guys, I had a 68 B body and upon doing a restore I noticed my axle housing looked bent, I had a 70 E body housing in stock and installed it in my B body, the e body housing was 1 inch wider from back of backing plates. I had to move the leaf spring pads and that's it. Just some info for you.
