Hi. I am trying to install my cruise control/directional arm in the steering column. The white nylon plug will not go through the small square hole in the column housing?? Do I have to pull those wires out of the nylon plug and insert them first and then install the plug after?? Seems odd. Anybody have experience taking the lever in and out. When I removed it, the plug was cut off so the wires just pulled up through. Now I am trying to install it with the plug and that seems to big to go through?? I know I can just take the wires out of the nylon plug and run them and then reconnect the plug, but I am curious if I have the right plug or is this and issue that nobody talks about?? I checked cuda cody and I don't see where he mentions this. He just talks about the directional arm with no wiring for cruise??

I believe you're on the right track with having to disconnect the plug and run the wires through and reinstall the plug. PITA, but the factory manual shows dashed lines between the wires and plug.

Doesn't the steering column separate just below the directional? There are 3 philips head screws and that section comes off. They you can add the plug intact and snake it down the column. I don't remember disconnecting my wires from the plug when I reinstalled the cruise control/directional switch.

Agree with Ronbo, the plug shouldn't need to be disconnected. The crush can needs to be off, if it isn't already, and then the section below that needs to be separated from the one below. After that you should be able to get the plug through. There's a taper in there but it only runs downward, so you can't do it from outside with everything together like you're trying to.

Crush can is off. But I also have the turn signal switch installed along with the V01 ignition switch lamp and all that needs to come off before I can remove that section shown in my ohotos. That really does not make sense to me? I think for me, I would rather remove the 4 wires by unclipping them from that nylon plug and running the wires through and then re-install the plug, which is also strange.

Since the can is off, I would think separating the two pieces would still be easier than removing the plug, but that's up to you. I went out to the garage and took a look at some extra pieces I have laying around to refresh my memory. Actually the plug (or wires) don't need to pass through that square hole for the lever at all, with the two pieces separated.
