72 Challenger to a 70 front Grille ?
Just asking what's envolved?

I'm familiar with Cuda -

never working on Challenger body panel's -

1) other than having a 70 Grille -
2) are the headlight buckets the same?
3) Header panel change needed?
4) any brackets or bolts needed?

Different front fenders as the 72 -74 Challenger did not have the welded in headlight buckets like the 70-71 Challengers. The 72-74 Challengers had a fiberglass front header panel that held the grille and headlight buckets in. There are other differences such as brackets that hold the 1970 grille in, horn set-up and hood latch set-up but that is the main one. I'm doing this change to a 70 grille on a 72 Challenger now. I had 70-71 Challenger fenders and grille already. The side marker lights on the fenders are different in my case using the 70-71 fenders.

72 didn't have a filler panel in front of the grille which I do not see in your picture , 73-74 had the bumper moved forward & a fill panel
Other differences are the hood chrome & hood latch between 72 & 70

The grille looks like a non-stock 72-74 grille ( it looks like it has a mesh screen). The front header panel is broken on both ends. A couple of the chrome headlight rings are missing. No bumper there of course. Hood latch and secondary latch missing. Drivers side header panel to fender bracket missing. That's about all I can see from that photo.

you know I should know these details since I once had a 70 challenger -
Its been many years ago... also only had her for couple years doing
maybe 1 or 2 oil changes. ( NOT PAYING ATTENTION AT THE TIME ABOUT
THE FRONT GRILLE ect. ect.... lol )

Question - is there a header panel for 70 Challenger?
if so - anyone have a pic or reference ?

Just the hood latch support brace/bracket and some brackets attached to the top of the grille to the fender. I'll see if I can find a photo.

Thanks for finding that post -
Im starting to see what you mean about the hood support latch with top brackets to fender.

I noticed a couple other pictures in that post showing a large gap between the bumper and grille? maybe its just out and not pushed in of that picture?
This now begging the question for different bumper supports of the needed distance for a 70 from a 72 of grille space?
