73 barracuda 340 oem style sparkplug wires ?

When you don't have the old spark plug wires on a engine..to use as a replacement guide,

What is the best way to know? Which length of wire goes Where.. I know the firing order and will be using the factory wiring clips on the valve cover.. Just curious if there was a specific way to do it without trial-and-error.When installing oem style wires...

Assuming it's not a big block transplant (different procedure because of the distributor location), cylinder #2 is furthest away and uses the longest wire. Cylinder #1 and Cylinder #4 are the next longer wires. Then #3 and #6, and then #5 and #8. #7 is closest. Then the coil wire is usually different on the one end, so it's obvious. Good luck! 🙂
