74 Rally Challenger

1974 Rally Challenger. Nice clean Nevada car I found here near Lake Tahoe. It needed one patch panel lower drivers side rear fender. The rest of the body is really solid. Original 318 is long gone.

A friend is building my 383. Custom pistons had to be ordered to get the quench where he wanted it for the correct compression for my elevation.

There are alots of parts for 440 motors but 383 motors are a bit more difficult. Planning to run edlebrock heads on the motor too. Crank is back from the machine shop, just waiting on the pistons. Shooting for 500 Horsepower on pump gas, elevation is 4,600 feet where I live.

Stripped everything off the car for now and bodywork is in progress. I'll post pictures as the car comes along. It has not been on the road in 12 years. Gonna bring her back to life. Hope to be driving the car this coming spring.

73 Challenger

The last pic is the metal roof under the vinyl (Black primer). It is in great shape. I have already pulled the vinyl trim and it is going to have a full metal roof. No more vinyl for this car.

Thanks for all the kind words. I will post more pics as the car comes along. Troy

Aluminum heads are here, and the KB pistons are due the end of the month. 40 over custom pistons....Body work is coming along, but slow.

I'll post some pics as the motor goes together, later this month. Troy

All stripped for bodywork. All original sheet metal, except 1 fender and the hood.

Pans are all original and in killer shape. Only patch needed was the lower rear fender. Everything else is super solid and no rust!

Here are a few pan pics. Troy

Hey, Troy in Tahoe, this is John in Auburn and I am also restoring a 73 Challenger, ground up. Mine is finally a "roller" again. Keep in touch and if you get down this way, holler at me! I'll post photos of mine soon. Funny, I was in Boomtown last night!

Will do, I am hoping to be driving it with an unfinished interior this spring.

Nice car, nice work. "No rust" is hard to imagine in the North East. I really dig vinyl tops too. Good luck with the rest of the restoration.
