Hi everyone, Im new to this forum.....
I have a fully restored 74 Challenger with factory 318 and a 904.......wanting a bit of a challenge and update to a 99 5.9L magnum and the tranny from the Dakota RT.

Anyone here attempted something like this?
what surprises did you come arcross?

will this power-train fit without any mods to the tunnel?

any info would be appreciated

Welcome to the site. Any of the truck computer controlled o/d transmissions will not have the correct gear ratios for a car. They are geared as is the differential for towing and load carrying. Drop in a carbureted 5.9 crate and a gear vendors type o/d as these are proven, trouble free modifications.

Welcome to the site from the Motor City! That sounds like a pretty good swap. I have a friend who's made some performance mods to his Dakota R/T and that thing is neck snapping fast! A lot of guys have been transplanting the 5.7 and 6.1 Hemis with good success but I would be zero help with either of these as I will likely stick to the very inefficient carburated big blocks.
