A Pillar Moulding not fitting

photo on left shows the ash end of moulding. middle and right show moulding in position on dash. large gap at dash . will not go in any further.. right photo the "foot" of moulding goes over the VIN area ?? has anyone encountered this problem. OR is there another supplier with a better fit
