i will be installing American Autowire's "Classic Update Kit #5100289" complete wire harness to my 70 challenger. One of the first notes for this kit states, "AS THIS HARNESS IS DESIGNED FOR USE IN A MODIFIED CAR REQUIRING A HIGHER RATE OF CHARGE, IT DOES NOT SUPPORT THE USE OF A STOCK (ORIGINAL) ALTERATOR. IT IS DESIGNED FOR USE WITH A SINGLE WIRE STYLE INTERNALLY REGULATED ALTERNATOR." Originally my car is a 318 but now has a 360 crate engine six pak with MSD ignition which is how i bought it. how can i tell if i have the correct alternator?

thanks for your help.

what alternator are you using? those directions indicate that you won't use the external regulator and there will be no field wires off the alternator. You'll want an alternator that supports single wire capacity such as (this is just an example):
Powermaster Street Alternators 8-48529-120
