hi, quick question that probably has a simple answer. On my 1974 Challenger, I took the gage cluster out completely to repair some gages. I need to start and drive the car a short distance for some other work to be done. The car is dead with the ammeter disconnected.
So here’s my question, can I simply connect the two ammeter wires together or do I need to slave in an aftermarket ammeter between the two wires?
Thanks in advance.

Use a bolt and lock washer and nut and connector the two wires. More importantly, don't spare the electrical tape and make sure that is completely insulated from touching anything under the dash.
