Hello all. Another old mopar guy. Every vehicle I own is mopar. 70 challenger WSS with numbers match 383. 71 Barracuda with 440. 89 Dodge Cummins (the beast). 96 Neon. 98 Dakota 5.2 Magnum SLT. 2007 Jeep Liberty. 2014 Chrysler 300c hemi (wife's car). And a 2019 Cherokee Trailhawk. I've owned my Challenger since I was 19. So I've been into Mopars my entire life. The 71 Barracuda is my current project car as it's the only one that's not drivable because it's in pieces. It should be fun sharing information with all of you.

Here's a couple pictures of my 70 Challenger WSS. Mostly all original still. Not too bad since we both went off a 20 foot cliff back in college!

Yes, I was heading up a mountain highway in Oregon and hit black ice. Had no steering and went off the road. Took the tow truck driver 5 hours to get my Challenger back up. He didn't want to do more damage. Really nice of him. He even bought me dinner while we waited for my parents to show up.

The wreck crumpled the driver's side fender, bent the bumper and bent the lower radiator support shoving the radiator into the fan. Took a few weeks to get all that fixed.

My mom just about had a heart attack months later when she saw where I went off the road. Dad said the Lord looks after children and fools. So I was double covered that day!

My Challenger and I have been through a lot together. She's got over 250,000 miles on her.

Well, here's a couple of pictures of my 71. That's what I got for $1000. I've been collecting parts for years. It's on jack stands to start welding in sub-frame connectors and torque boxes. I was originally going with a 340 small block, but my son convinced me to go with a 440.

Barracuda was originally FJ6 and someone painted it black. I'm planning on painting it back original. My son is trying to talk me into leaving it multi-colored for awhile as it should be a respectfully fast car. My goal is to get it lighter than a small bock with a 500+ horsepower 440. I also want it to handle well. So a lot of work ahead for certain.

Love the Challenger and the cliff story! Deadman Pass on I-84? Manual or automatic trans? Good luck with the Cuda project.

Highway 140 between Medford and Klamath Falls, Oregon when I was going to college at OIT. Challenger is an automatic.

Good story on the WSS Challenger and glad you were OK
WSS Challengers are interesting cars with the options they included in the package!
Looking forward to pics on your work on the 71 Barracuda

I think the WSS Challengers are kind of like an SE without the tiny rear window and overhead console.

I'll start a new thread for the 71 Barracuda soon. Just got to finish up some honey-dos for the boss (wife).
