On my 70 Cuda with Auto Slap Stick on console, the black button can get pulled right out of the shifter. I do not see a detent or anything to hold it in place once pushed in. Any thoughts on how to keep it in there?
Thanks
Rich

they are very poor design , the chrome knob & the plastic button thread on together , the plastic button is supposed to be threaded & the spring strips out the threads over time , you can try to install a helicoil into the plastic button , I have had some success with this or replace the handle with a Pistol grip handle from Quapman / Steve

I pulled it apart and see exactly what you mean! There was not a lick of thread on the inside of that button. I will try a helicoil, but may just need to buy a new button... Thank you!!!
