Thought I'd throw this out, been working great for 2 years.

Here's a cheap and easy backup camera option for E-Bodies.
My Challenger has the stupid SE rear window, that along with a small floppy passenger side mirror makes for a terrible blind spot.
I got this on Amazon for only $35, and it works great. I wired it to be constantly on.
Added a Velco strip so it can be easily removed, and ran the hard wire through the interior to plate.
I can now see cars beside me, in blind spot.

Pros:
- It's cheap, only $35
- Hard wired, looked at WiFi options, but all reviews complained about phone issues
- Helps with blind spot, along with the usual backing up
- Easily disconnected for removal
- Nice 4.3" size screen, fits perfect in ashtray
- Did I meation it's cheap..........

Cons:
- Have to leave ashtray open, although it comes with suction cup for windshield
- 140 deg view angle, 180 deg might be better for blind spot issue
- Had to mount camera on front side of plate because of the factory license plate light interference
- Drillled holes in ashtray mount and trunk for wiring. My car is far from original, so this didn't bother me

Interesting idea...

Would have to think about how to modify this setup for Plymouth E-body use since the gas cap for Cudas is accessed behind the rear license plate.

Did this too. I think the same camera. Great option. I put it on the floor in front of my shifter plate. I also wired it for RCA cables as many of these other cameras use alternative wiring in case I need to buy a new one so it will plug & play.

I love the idea of a backup camera, but I have to admit I have two vehicles with them and I still turn my head and look out the rear back glass when driving in reverse. Old habits! However the backup camera in the Cherokee is great for the tow hitch! Don't see myself putting a tow hitch on my Challenger or Barracuda though.

This would have been an awesome addition to my '74 D200 crew cab. That thing was freaking looong and parking it was a bear!

These backup cameras work great on the back of a Bobcat as well! Without the camera rear view is almost impossible, and I worry about our dogs getting behind me while working (don't worry as much about the cats!).

I mounted the screen just a bit to the right of the control panel (key, lights, fan, etc.) in the upper left corner of the cab (bolted right through the roof) where it doesn't interfere with entry/exit or using the controls. Added a push button for power on the side of the control panel wired to the key switch so it will always be off when I shut down the engine. The back of the skid steer already had a hole large enough to mount the camera through. I LOVE IT!

Cool idea. I have two 70 Challengers. One is an R/T S.E. with the small rear window also. I guess I have never really had any issues backing up or driving mine all these years. I do also have the passenger side mirror option and that does help.

There are backup cameras that are quite small, so I don't think that room should be an issue on your Barracuda even with the fold down license plate. Pics of the camera and display I added to my Bobcat.

I love backup cameras although I don't drive my Cuda enough to consider putting one on it. They are great on my every day drivers though. I spent 23 years driving a patrol car and looking through the cage separating the front and back seats really messes with your depth perception, ours were always made by our shop with expanded metal mesh. Having to deal with that for 23 years makes me really appreciative of backup cameras.

I saw somewhere, the camera was installed into a Cuda tail panel right above the license plate. Obviously it's a more permanent install but an interesting idea. Only problem would be if the camera died and it needed replacing.

I got that, there are tons of them available. Simple search of Amazon gives you plenty of options. The form is standardized, easy to find a replacement if needed. If really concerned, spend $75 and buy 4 or 5 and you're set for life.

Fair, like I said, just pointing out a potential issue. I'm aware of how many there are and agree it could be a big nothing burger, or not. If someone is going to cut a hole in there tail panel they'd better be sure.
