I never realized they were different thankyou for letting me know, the car is a 1970. I am in Australia but have a contact in Indianapolis who can organise the shipping for me.

Can you tell us exactly what is different about the '70's version? Everywhere I've looked for these, they sell them as 70-74 door panels. No one sells a '70 only version, at least that I've been able to find. Very curious about this. Thanks!

The differences are subtle but there are differences. First are the 4 cutouts at the edges where the panels flex at the tops and bottoms. 2 at the front and 2 at the rear edge - a 1970 only feature. First photo shows a 1971-4 panel with a 1970 panel stacked up above it showing the cutouts.
Second difference is a 1970 panel has 6 mounting clips along the bottom edge where the 1971-4 only has 3.
Again, the differences are subtle - they will all fit and look the same. The cutouts can be made to make a 1971-74 panel look like a 1970-only panel if you want the correct look. Hope this helps...

Thank you for that clarification, was not aware of those differences. But then, I've never had a 71-74 model, only my '70 R/T SE.

In the name of "Always something new to learn," I wanted to update this thread as I have just discovered another subtle difference between the 1970 door panel and the '71-'74. The "well" in the arm rest/door pull area for the 1970 panel is metal while the 1971-74 is plastic. I discovered this today while restoring some panels for a newer FEBO member and thought I would share this with you all. Upper "well" is the metal version from 1970, lower one is plastic for the 1971 & up...

Grady, I guess I have one of those Mopar exceptions. On both of my 1971 Challengers, the inside panels do not have the edge cut outs, but the arm rest pull area piece is metal. As we have said before about these cars, it sure is fun digging into the details/surprises.

Okay, that's good to know! Not knowing specifically which year my non-1970 panels without cut outs and plastic arm rest pulls are, we now know that they are NOT 1971 due to the fact that you can report your '71 pulls are metal. So we can deduce that the plastic pulls are 1972-74 (unless someone with a 1972 panel chimes in and states their pulls are metal too!) Yours may not necessarily be an exception but rather the rule. Thanks for that post man! Perfect example of how this forum is so very helpful. Much appreciated moparlee...
