Just wanted to help out anybody else who maybe has issues with a relatively new clutch - and driving you up the wall!!!
In August 2024 I installed a freshly built 408 Stroker and new Mcleod 75209 Clutch and Flywheel in my 1974 Challenger. Just before putting the car away last fall the clutch started chattering (after only a couple of thousand miles or so) when moving away from being stopped. This was driving me nuts because I couldn't find the cause. Some buddies told me I had a bad T/O bearing. McLeod told me I hadn't properly broken in the clutch. I've been driving a standard transmission for fifty years!! Not new to a four speed.
Finally I got under the car a few weeks ago and looked closely and noticed the clutch fork boot was torn. (See attached). When I removed the torn boot and looked even closer I noticed the clutch fork insulator was shot. Huge play in the fork. I replaced insulator and of course the boot. Now the issue is completely resolved. This was my bad as I should have changed parts like this when I replaced the clutch.
Hopefully this helps...

For the truck applications Mopar used a 1/2 steel ball instead of the rubber on the adjuster going into the end of the fork , I always substituted the steel 1/2 ball , Mopar May still sell them , or Brewers will know about them , far more durable especially using heavier clutches .

Excellent point. I wasn't aware of this. Is that similar to the old GM style?

@sir_veza thank you for posting this! This will be a great help to people in the future!
Thanks. It's only right to share knowledge and hopefully relieve another member from stress if possible. After all we only want to enjoy our cars and have some fun. When I was having other issues a few years ago, especially Chryco and a few others helped me out.
