Coil problems

My car has shut down twice while running without warning. Both times it was a dead coil. I switched it and it started imediately. Both were Pertronix Flamthrower II. It is a 71 340 with electronic ignition. Both had under 25 miles on them. Coincidence or another issue?:icon_cry:

Is this on a new engine rebuild ? Any issues before the Pertronix coils ? Did you do anything else besides the coil change ?

New rebuild, but it did it the first time before the rebuild. The rest of the ignition system is as it was when I got the car in February. Could it be the ballast resister or the ECU module? Previous owner did some strange things to it.

I had an issue with the same coil. Installed the FBO unit with it and after about 30 miles it wouldn't start. I bench tested the coil and tested ok, but would not run. Got a new coil and started right up and runs good. I havent driven much since winter is here, but am wondering if they had a problem with these coils?
Time will tell.
