Does anyone know if the internal parts of a column shift steering column is the same as a floor shift steering column. I have a floor shift column. There are some parts missing. I found a column shift column. I need the lock plate. For some reason, it's missing. Thanks

What year car? I believe the lock plate started in 1971 with the lever on the column. 1970 had the linkage under the car

I have a 1970 Barracuda. I may be calling the part by the wrong name. I was watching the video by Cuda Cody, rebuilding a 70 steering column. The part is a metal disc that has notches. I'm looking for this part because mine is missing. I think it's causing excessive play. I can pull up on my steering wheel and there is a 1/4 inch gap between the column and the crush can. There are also a couple of snap rings missing. Thanks

I have extra lock plate and snap rings from a spare column and other parts. Do you have any pictures of your column. The missing snap rings would make it move up and down.

Yes, you definitely need the toothed lock plate because you'll have extra slop as you've indicated. Sounds like @68bee has got you covered.

What parts are you missing besides the round lock plate and the 2 snap rings. Do you have the Lock lever and pin assembly and the plate and screws that hold it in in pictures 5, 7, 15, 16, 17

I don't think I need the lock lever and pin assembly. I would need the lock plate, the clips, and the pin that secures the lock plate to the steering shaft. I need the plate to take up the space so the steering wheel won't move up and down. Is there a cover that covers the pin? Thanks
